Service of legal proceedings

NHS England will accept service of legal proceedings by email directly to either the dedicated legal proceedings inbox: NHSE.newproceedings@nhs.net or, where external lawyers are instructed and are on record as acting in a particular matter, to the email address of the lawyer named as acting. Proceedings received between 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday (business days only) will be treated as received on the same business day, outside of that time frame they will be treated as received on the following business day. Proceedings must be sent in standard email format (not via secure mailing systems) and, if documents are password protected, they will be deemed as received when the password is provided and the documents accessible.

Please be aware that any emails sent to NHSE.newproceedings@nhs.net that are not legal proceedings will not be actioned. They will not be forwarded elsewhere. For information on how to contact NHS England please see the relevant section of the webpage.

For the avoidance of doubt, this is not a central inbox for service of proceedings on any NHS health provider or hospital trust, integrated care board, general practitioner, dentist or other primary care provider.  We will only accept service of legal proceedings where NHS England is the named party.  Please ensure you serve on the correct defendant.
