London Asthma Leadership Group for Children and Young People

The aim of the London Asthma Leadership Group for Children and Young People is to bring together key stakeholders to co-develop strategies that will improve the health and well-being of CYP with asthma in London.

The membership comprises clinicians and commissioning managers, allied health and care professionals with responsibilities for CYP and an interest in asthma or long-term conditions, patients/carers and the voluntary sector. The meetings occur 5-6 times per year with subgroups meeting as required.

The chair of the group is Oliver Anglin, Clinical Director for CYP Transformation Programme and GP.

Pharmacy

The purpose of the CYP pharmacy asthma group is to bring together key pharmacy stakeholders to co-develop strategies that will improve the health and well-being of CYP with asthma in London. The membership comprises pharmacists from primary, community, secondary and tertiary care who have responsibilities for CYP and an interest in asthma or long-term conditions. The CYP pharmacy asthma group meets four quarterly.

The co-chairs of the group are Sukeshi Makhecha, Lead and Specialist paediatric respiratory pharmacist, Royal Brompton and Evelina Hospitals and Darush Attar-Zadeh Independent Prescriber and Respiratory Pharmacist NWL Children & Young People Asthma Network.

Severe Asthma

The Severe Asthma Group aims to improve and advance standards of care for CYP with severe and difficult to control asthma across London. It is a subgroup of the Asthma Leadership Group for Children and Young People which brings together key stakeholders to co-develop strategies that will improve the health and well-being of CYP with asthma in London.

The group meets regularly at least four times per year to work alongside Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) to support the delivery of the national and regional NHS England asthma transformation priorities, implementation of the National Bundle of Care for CYP with Asthma and the London asthma ambitions and standards across the capital.

The chair of the group is Louise Fleming, Clinical Reader, Imperial College London and paediatric respiratory consultant, Royal Brompton Hospital.

Pan-London Asthma Nurses Group

The Pan-London Asthma Nurses group meet quarterly to share best practice and for informal networking. There is also a WhatsApp group for informal networking, advice and support.
