The NHS England, North East and Yorkshire, Education Investments and Commissioning team have operated a Main Provider apprenticeship contract since 2017, delivering in conjunction with NHS trusts niche apprenticeship programmes in Estates Engineering, Mammography Associate, Oral Health Practitioner, and Senior Healthcare Support Worker. In July 2024, the service achieved an Outstanding grade from inspectors.

Not only was the top Ofsted grade achieved, but the success rate of apprentices on programme reached 90%, with 100% of learners remaining in the NHS. This represents a huge achievement for all the staff involved, and the team are rightly very proud of the result.

Though a decision has been made to close the Main Provider contract, we continue to deliver outstanding performance for the remaining learners on programme. As other providers have entered the market where previously there were none, we work to ensure a smooth transition for employers and learners.
