NHS App toolkit

Summary

The NHS App provides a simple and secure way for people to access a range of NHS services on their smartphone or tablet. There are now over half a million people using the App across the country and the NHS continues to update the services available. The NHS App can help GP practices manage non-urgent communications with patients. Secure messaging within the App allows practices to send a short message to the patient with the option for patients to reply.

This toolkit will help you explain what the NHS App can do for your patients and provide support in using those services. This toolkit includes videos, posters, step-by-step guides, digital images and message templates to help you talk about the App.

The toolkit is organised into ‘promotional packs’ focused on some of the App’s key services and NHS national communications will be releasing new packs to explain new functions as they are launched.

In this toolkit you’ll find the following promotional material:

  • A4 posters
  • patient leaflets
  • social media images
  • web and digital displays
  • direct message templates
  • promotional films (Translated versions)

Guidance

The NHS App toolkit is broken down into different sections designed to promote various elements of the NHS App.

Quick Start Guide: ‘Do more with the NHS App’ leaflet explains the main functions of the App. The ‘Quick start guide’ provides instructions on how to download, register and access the NHS App. We also have leaflets introducing other functions of the App. You can print the pdf files below in black and white or colour. Print on both sides of the paper and select ‘flip on short edge’ in your printer’s options. Fold the page in half to make a leaflet.

Order repeat prescriptions in the NSH App: The promotional materials that have been provided in this toolkit can help you inform your patients about ordering repeat prescriptions on the NHS App.

Repeat Prescriptions: Learn more about requesting repeat prescriptions through the NHS App.  In this toolkit you will find a patient leaflet containing step-by-step instructions for patients on how to order repeat prescriptions using the NHS App. You can print the pdf file in black and white or colour. Print on both sides of the paper and select ‘flip on short edge’ in your printer’s options. Fold the page in half to make a leaflet.

Messaging in the NHS App: Here you will find a toolkit of materials telling patients how to message. For this you will be provided with images and banners for your website; as well as social media assets

GP Health record:This toolkit can assist you in communicating to patients about how they can see their GP health record via the NHS App. The NHS is giving people access to their GP health record on the NHS App, NHS website and other GP online services. This means people will be able to easily access information including consultation notes, test results and letters. Here you will find ways to help, understanding your audience to support, key messages, calls to action, social and media tools to help support you. You can find this section of the toolkit here: See your GP health record in the App
